Neck (Cervical) Disc Herniation Treatment

Desk work and long hours on a phone have made neck herniation and loss of the neck's natural curve far more common. Fizyoterapist Aydın Ali works on cervical problems along two lines: bringing pain under control and re-educating posture.

A manual therapy technique applied to the neck

When is it needed?

  • Pain spreading from the neck into the shoulder and arm
  • Numbness or weakness in the hand or fingers
  • Headache starting at the base of the skull
  • Difficulty turning the head, restricted movement
  • Neck and upper back tightness that builds through the day

What we do

  • Assessment of the neck and shoulder girdle
  • Manual therapy and soft tissue techniques
  • Electrotherapy for pain management
  • Deep neck flexor stabilisation exercises
  • Ergonomics and desk setup guidance
  • Home exercise programme

Neck Herniation in Bursa Nilüfer

Fizyoterapist Aydın Ali provides one-to-one care for neck herniation at the clinic in Bursa Nilüfer — in Fethiye Mahallesi, on Kelebek Sokak, at a central point of Nilüfer, opposite the Fethiye covered market.

It is a short trip by car or public transport from İhsaniye, Odunluk, Balat, Özlüce, Ataevler, 23 Nisan and the surrounding areas. Every session is one-to-one, assessment-based and tailored to you.

Why is it so common in desk workers?

As the head drifts forward, the load the neck muscles must carry rises sharply. Over time this strains the discs and joints and leaves the neck muscles in constant tension.

For that reason a meaningful part of the programme covers daily adjustments: screen height, seating and break habits.

The link with headaches

Headaches that begin at the base of the skull often originate in the neck. The assessment separates these, and where appropriate manual therapy for the upper neck is added to the programme.

Surgery or physiotherapy?

Most neck (cervical) disc complaints are managed without surgery, through an exercise- and manual-therapy-based programme; surgery is considered for selected situations such as progressive weakness or loss of dexterity in the arm, or unsteady walking, and the decision is made by a physician. The table below compares the two paths.

Frequently asked questions

Is straightening of the neck curve dangerous on its own?

Not on its own. It is a finding, not a disease, and it also appears in people without symptoms. What matters is the load-bearing capacity of the neck, not the image.

Will a cervical collar help?

It may help briefly in the acute stage but is not a long-term solution; prolonged use weakens the neck muscles. The decision belongs to your doctor.

How long until I feel a difference?

Many people notice relief within the first few weeks, but lasting change requires the strength component to be completed.
