The claim that colourful tape "draws out toxins" isn't scientific. Its real effect is more modest than advertised, but it is real.
The most common misunderstanding about kinesio taping is the expectation that the tape "treats" a muscle or joint problem. The evidence doesn't support that — but the tape does have a real, measurable contribution.
By giving feedback to the skin, the tape increases movement awareness and can slightly reduce pain perception in some people. That effect doesn't directly increase muscle strength.
In managing mild swelling and supporting postural awareness, the tape can offer a complementary contribution to an exercise programme.
The tape doesn't resolve the underlying muscle imbalance or joint problem; it should always be used together with assessment and exercise.
Fzt. Aydın Ali uses taping where appropriate as a tool that supports the exercise programme in Bursa Nilüfer. You can book an appointment.
